| Description | Pages of manuscript (on lined yellow paper) with some typescript. Some pages draft very brief notes, ideas and synopses for stories for both children and adults. Most have been gathered into bundles of papers on the same theme.
The most well-developed stories are that of 'Cathy' who learns about a machine so that she can talk to her dog (RD/11/3/19), and ideas which later developed into 'The Minpins'. Also includes typed synopses of plots for a story about twins (allegedly based on a true incident), a play in three acts centred on a woman who murders consecutive husbands [which later developed into 'The Honeys', RD/9/2] and an idea about a boy who could move a glass of water with his mind which later became 'Matilda' (RD/11/3/21/2).
Also includes a page with the characters The Roly-Poly Bird and Muggle-Wump the monkey discussing whether they are real if the book they are in isn't being read. (RD/11/3/3) |
