DescriptionThe collection consists of the personal library and papers of Ken Hom. The papers include menus, posters, photographs and framed pictures documenting his career as a chef, author and television show presenter.

Administrative HistoryKen Hom was born in Tucson, Arizona, in 1949, and raised in Chicago, Illinois. While studying History of Art at the University of California, he gave cookery lessons to supplement his income, and went on to become a cookery instructor at the California Culinary Academy, San Francisco. In 1982, Ken Hom began his television career by fronting his own Chinese cookery programme for the BBC. The 1980s also saw the beginning of a long career as an author of asian cookery books. Since then, he has also worked as a consultant chef, and has created his own food range.
Custodial HistoryThe collection was transferred to the library from Ken Hom's home in France.
