Description | The 'Little Cartulary' contains copies of deeds of London properties, c.1180-15th century; extracts from (now lost) London rentals, c1270-1390; and account rolls, 1367-1424. Compiled c1430 with a few later entries to 1485. In a nineteenth century leather binding.
Folio 4 has illuminated borders and initial, with a depiction of the coat of arms later used by St Bartholomew's Hospital. There are coloured initials passim throughout the book, and pendrawn scrolls and grotesques on ff200-248. Ff250-251 are ms. bookhand folios from two different medieval service books, both rubricated, the latter also with coloured initials (descriptions use the twentieth century pencil foliation). |
