Administrative history | The Appeals Department was set up to coordinate fundraising appeals for the hospital, c1912, following the Special Appeal of 1909. In its early years, its work seems to have split into the 'Contributions Department', which managed donations to existing funds, endowments for beds, legacies etc; and the 'Special Appeal Department', which managed targeted fundraising appeals, notably for hospital rebuilding projects. An 'Appeal Organiser' was employed specifically for the 'Great Reconstruction Appeal' of 1929-1930, and for the Mansion House Appeal of 1939. |
