Q: I have found what I’m looking for on the catalogue, how can I view it?
A: Archive records can be viewed by appointment in the archives searchroom, on the St Bartholomew's Hospital site in London, or it may be possible for us to answer your query by email. Please contact us with the references of the item(s) you are interested in consulting. For more information, visit our website.

Q: The catalogue description says that the record is ‘Closed’ or that access is ‘Restricted’. What does this mean?
A: Access to certain items and collections, in particular modern medical records, is restricted under the Data Protection Act and for reasons of patient confidentiality. You may be able to request a search for your own record or for a deceased family member. Please contact us for further information.

Q: Can I obtain a copy of the document(s) in which I am interested?
A: We can provide copies of many documents through our paid copying service. To order copies or scans for your own private research purposes or to obtain permission to reproduce anything from the archives collections, please contact us, giving details of the document, including the reference number (listed as ‘RefNo’ in the catalogue description).

Q: Can I use images or documents from the collections for my research or in a publication?
A: Please contact us for further details of our copying services, procedures for obtaining permission to publish, and how to cite and quote documents from the collections.

Q: Are all images copyright of Barts Health NHS Trust?
